Magik - Marvel Now

Magik (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magik_%28comics%29) is the little sister of Colossus and an X-Man in her own right Artificially aged in a demon dimension as a child, she's missing just enough of her soul to be creepy, which might also explain why she decided to start taking fashion advice from Marvel Now Emma Frost.
Getting The Look
Marvel Now Magik has one of those big, impractical, glowing swords you see in a lot of fantasy MMORPGs. Once you have that the rest of this look is pretty easy to put together (OK, except for the shoulders. The shoulders are hard).

Available at character creation are: the Moon emblem, Clasped waist, Thigh High boots and Basic Suit chest piece. Demonic hands and the New Genesis legs usually drop as you are levelling a character, or can be purchased inexpensively from the Broker. The Tech Ninja back style is slightly harder to obtain, but can be found once you hit level 30. Check the link for instances where it drops, or again go looking on the Broker.

The only two items that are difficult to obtain are the Powered Broadsword Two Handed style, and the Warrior Of Spring shoulders. Powered Broadsword drops in any of the alerts from the Fight For The Light DLC, such as Oan Sciencells, so you will need to be a legendary member or have access to that expansion to obtain. Unfortunately this is not a tradeable item so you will need to grind until it drops for you (shouldn't take too long).

The Warrior Of Spring shoulder style is only available once a year during the spring event. Unfortunately there isn't another shoulder piece currently in game that has the same asymmetry with spike that Magik's current costume features. You might want to choose a one-sided shoulder style as a substitute while you wait for April to roll around.

To duplicate the cleavage hole (that sounds so dirty) and short shorts that are part of this costume use your third Palette slot for a colour that matches your characters skin. The Moon emblem then needs to be entirely this colour, as do the ribbed parts of the leg style.

Power, Movement and Weapon Choice
Magik is both a mutant and a sorceress, so there are two options for powerset choice: Sorcery, not surprisingly to represent her magical abilities, and Quantum using the Time tree to simulate her power to create teleportation portals. For this version I chose Sorcery. You can use any power from either tree, with this version of Magik depending more than previous ones on her magical powers. Anything that summons a demonic pet, or adds damage to her sword attacks works especially well as her Soulsword has always been her weapon of choice.

Acrobatics is the best movement choice, but with so many other effective skills to choose from it's unlikely you'll need any powers from the Movement tree.

Accuracy and Playability
A pretty close approximation of Magik's Marvel Now look: 8/10. Choosing Sorcery you can play Magik as an effective DPS or healer, with both feeling true to the character. Short of a powerset or movement type that let's you actually make portals this is as close as it gets: 8/10.
