Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)

Captain Marvel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_Danvers) is an Avenger and all around tough lady. She retired her awesome 60's bathing suit costume in favour of this military-esque getup, at the same time upgrading her codename from Ms. to Captain. She also got a pretty great haircut while she was at it, so it was a busy week for her.
Getting The Look
This is based on the original version of Carol Danver's Captain Marvel costume, rather than the current version that features slightly different details, a more muscular physique and a much shorter haircut.
The original designs for this costume coloured the retracting faceplate navy, but when Captain Marvel (2012) #01 was published it had been changed to red. So that's what I've gone with. In my opinion the red looks far better, and I'm assuming that's the reason for the colouring change anyway.

The sash Captain Marvel wears is quite thick and clasps on the side. Originally I tried the Tech Ninja waist style so that I could get the draping pieces, but it was too thin, lacked the clasp and hung far too low. The Kryptonian Commander waist is a far better fit, with the grooves in the belt looking more like a bundled up sash.

None of the emblems emulate the 8 pointed star on Captain Marvel's chest, but the normal Star style against the yellow point of the chest stripe is a good approximation.

As the stripes on the chest stop short I've used the Bandito shoulder style to carry the yellow and red colours across and down the shoulder. It also adds a military feel to the costume as a whole.

While you can create the faceplate with just a head style I think the Oan Tech mask adds some definition and a more armored feel.

Half V Wings head, Star emblem, Chevron Slimline chest and Athletic Slimline legs - All available at character creation. If you did not select these styles at character creation you can find them for purchase from style vendors in your respective HQ (Watchtower or Hall of Doom).

Cruel Locks hair - Is the reward for completing the Resident's Of Happiness Home briefing. The final briefing icon is in the room where the raid takes place BUT you can access it before the raid starts. If you're having trouble ask people to help you just queue, then collect the briefing and leave.

Oan Tech face - Drops from Kyle Rayner in the Coast City alert. However, it is also tradeable so you can purchase it from the Broker reasonably cheaply.

Bandito shoulder - Purchasable from the Marketplace as part of the Bandito style pack.

Arctic Gear hands - Available as part of the Winter Seasonal event. If you don't have these unlocked many gloves of a similar length will work until the seasonal rolls around again.

Kryptonian Commander waist - Part of the Kryptonian Commander set, available from vendors in your HQ. You will need a combat rating of 53 or above. OR the style only can be purchased much more cost effectively (10 marks) from the respective rare style vendor in your HQ.

Spats feet - Are the reward for the Gotham's Gang War: Episode 4 briefing.

Character Choices

Captain Marvel is strong, invulnerable, can generate energy blasts AND absorb varying kinds of radiation. That makes Atomic a good fit for her, since it is a DPS and tank power set and there are plenty of energy/radiation emitting blasts and animations to chose from.

As with Firestar the energy hand buff animation looks great on Captain Marvel, and there are some great melee energy animations as well. I especially like Thermochemical Explosion. Keep tapping melee for some awesome energy ground slams.

    1. I changed my mind I'd like to see Rescue. (Although Lady Loki would still be cool)

  2. Awesome! Wasn't expecting her. I have a Moonstone Atomic character and sometimes I put her in Captain Marvel costume.
I tried different gloves and boots (with high heels) and never thought of the Oan tech mask and I love the idea.
I used Druid belt for the sash, also because that belt if for controller rol only.
As a suggestion I'd love to see Polaris and Moonstone.

  3. I have Moonstone, but I think Celestial on the hero side is a better fit for her power.

    1. Hope you post Moonstone soon. Too bad we don't have a metallic liquid texture for full body.
Your Moonstone is Celestial? I like the VFX but never really managed the combos/damage. And I think it needs both trees.
Would love to see more Storm, Elektra, even Black Cat or Black Widow since both are fairly easy to get done.

  5. new person in Ultimate Spider-Man, while Ed Brubaker keeps up with the Falcon as one of my beloved characters, however Ultimate Marvel to the side, they are as yet inadequate. Soap2day

  6. Similarly as you would figure, there are more run races than there are ironman races. In addition there are more organizations or race coordinators doing run races than there are ironman distance races. Watchfree
