Magik

Magik (Illyana Rasputin) is a teleporting mutant who was sucked into the demonic Limbo dimension as a child (great job babysitting X-Men!). Growing up there as a slave of the demon Belasco, she learnt both good and evil magic. Ultimately creating her Soulsword from... well part of her soul. She also began manifesting more and more metallic armor over her classic New Mutants costume, kind of like the ultimate in over-accessorising.

Over the years Magik's Soulsword armor has been drawn a lot of different ways. It always covers her left arm and shoulder, but how much more of her chest and legs it encroached upon depended on the artist and where she was in her story arc.

I really liked the look of the Winged Fury chest, since it simulated both the armor and the look of her New Mutants costume underneath. Similarly, even though the Vesture of Proselyte style doesn't cover the whole left arm, when combined with the shoulder style you get close to Illyana's look from the comics. It's also one of the few hand styles that is asymmetrical.

Though it is depicted as glowing in more modern comics classically Illyana's Soulsword was more of a traditional blade. The Synthium Braided Sword is a good compromise between these two looks (and also there are no swords where only the blade glows!).

While the Al Ghul hair doesn't have the blunt fringe of Illyana's iconic hairstyle it certainly fits more closely than the Shoulder-Length I've used for her before. If I were making it now I'd certainly use Al Ghul for Magik's Marvel Now look.

Character Choices

Power: Sorcery, Weapon: One Handed, Movement: Acrobatics, Body Type: Monarch Small,
Personality: Powerful.

The benefit of Sorcery is that you can conjure demons and have the magical special effects.

However Quantum is an equally effective choice. It gives you access to a teleport ability, and also lots of discs of glowing white light that look a lot like her teleporting 'stepping discs'. There's also a power that's described as teleporting objects at your foes, but it really just looks like firing off random bolts of energy.
