Captain America

Captain America is every kids dream: going from skinny kid to jacked muscle jock without any of the annoying working out. He most often leads the Avengers, hitting people in the face with his shield. Because America!

Siryn - X-Factor

Siryn can scream really loud, just like her dad Banshee. Also that somehow allows them to fly, because of comic book reasons. For a while she was a member of Jamie Madrox's mutant 'detective agency' and wore this no-costume costume.

Archangel

Archangel, or Warren Worthington III, is one of those comic book characters who has gone through a lot of changes over the years. His original power was just having huge feathered wings and being able to fly. Which seems pretty good until 47,000 other mutants all come along with better powers than you. Some bad guy tore up his wings and in a convoluted series of events he ended up with razor-sharp metal ones instead. He complained about it a lot, but deep down I think even he knew they were a vast improvement.

Professor X

Professor X, or  Charles Xavier is the leader of the X-Men. The "world's most powerful telepath", he was originally wheelchair bound, then could walk, then was in a wheelchair again, then could walk AGAIN. Like most longstanding comic book characters he's been pretty much ruined and maligned by modern writer's, with the exception of a character saving stretch of X-Men Legacy comics by Mike Carey.

Danger

Danger was once the holographic training room of the X-Men, who gained sentience, tried to murder them all, and then eventually joined the team. That's actually a way more common pattern than you might think. Apart from being a robot Danger can project holograms, shift her form, and come up with all sorts of deadly weaponry.

Polaris - Uncanny X-Men

Polaris is Magneto's only daughter. Take that not-even-a-mutant-anymore Scarlet Witch! She inherited her father's power of magnetism, and more than a little bit of crazy. Either the most capable member of a team or a borderline lunatic, depending on the writer, she's also had a lot of really wacky costumes. Like this somehow amazing purple mash-up she wore when rejoining the X-Men.

Magik

Magik (Illyana Rasputin) is a teleporting mutant who was sucked into the demonic Limbo dimension as a child (great job babysitting X-Men!). Growing up there as a slave of the demon Belasco, she learnt both good and evil magic. Ultimately creating her Soulsword from... well part of her soul. She also began manifesting more and more metallic armor over her classic New Mutants costume, kind of like the ultimate in over-accessorising.

Invisible Woman

The Invisible Woman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invisible_Woman), or Sue Storm, is an original member of the Fantastic Four. The prototype rocket ship crash and space radiation that gave all the Fantastic Four their powers (rather than say, death or a bunch of cancer), endowed her with the ability to turn herself and other objects invisible and generate similarly invisible force fields.

Emma Frost - Marvel Now

Emma Frost (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Frost) got bitch slapped by the Phoenix, picked another slutty outfit - but spoiler alert, it's black this time! - and lost most of her telepathy. She's currently running around with Cyclop's X-Men in the latest volume of Uncanny X-Men.
Getting The Look
Making Emma's Marvel Now look hinges on having the Necromancer chest style with the gaping open front. Combine it with the Classic cape as a substitute for her jacket. Necromancer chest is easy to obtain and drops in low level content or is purchaseable from the marketplace. The cape, boots, hot pants and belt are all available at character creation. Also available at character creation is the Crystalline skin style which works great for Emma's diamond form.

Jean Grey - Phoenix

If you don't know who Jean Grey is hit up her Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Grey). She's a mutant and X-Man who got possessed by a big, fiery cosmic bird thing (for a while) that has way better taste in clothes than she does.
Getting The Look
Jean's classic Phoenix outfit is pretty easy to make. All except one of the styles are available at character creation. Her sash-like belt (Tech Ninja) is the only item you'll need to track down, and even then it's as easy as spending a bit of cash at the auction house. Way better than a rare drop you'll need to grind in the hope of getting.
