Polaris - Uncanny X-Men

Polaris is Magneto's only daughter. Take that not-even-a-mutant-anymore Scarlet Witch! She inherited her father's power of magnetism, and more than a little bit of crazy. Either the most capable member of a team or a borderline lunatic, depending on the writer, she's also had a lot of really wacky costumes. Like this somehow amazing purple mash-up she wore when rejoining the X-Men.

I can never decide if this costume is amazing, or awful in a way that I love. Regardless Salvador Larroca drew the hell out of it, and it has a lot of nice callbacks to her previous costumes. I wish there were slightly better shoulders to pair with this as the ones in the comics have a sort of ring that latches onto the gloves.

The Insect Colonist legs are great for duplicating the suspenders on this costume. Because of that I had to use the Tech Sniper belt to get as close as possible to the gold paneling on the underwear.

Character Choices
Power: ElectricWeapon: Hand BlasterMovement: FlightBody TypeMonarch SmallPersonalityPowerful.
Besides being the most obvious (and really only) choice, Electric is great for Polaris as you have a lot of options. There's a whole tree dedicated to throwing things around magnetically, and two different types of Magnetic shields. I'm not sure how much sense it makes, but I mostly remember Magneto and Polaris generating a lot of force fields in the comics and flying around with cool auras and glowing hands.

  1. Nice! Finally a mutant again, loved your New Mutant Magik, I had one similar costume but with the blue parts were full black and few different bits.
And this is very similar to my own Polaris. I used Batwoman/Daring Vigilante cape instead though. Nice job with the aura.
Still curious about a Lady Mandarin or Angela, Binary costumes.

    1. If I recall Correctly, Polaris was always a mutant.

    2. I mean it's been a while since he featured a mutant. I think Magik was the last one.
But to answer your comment, Polaris was depowered by Wanda and powered first by Apocalypse celestial tech and later her X gen was restored again by Wanda when she fixed the "No more mutants" nonsense.

  2. Have you ever tried to make Storm's Asgardian costume? I don't know if it's possible because of her headpiece but if you find something could you post it?

    1. Yeah, there's no headpiece that's even close to that at the moment. Which is such a shame. What a great costume!

    2. If you don't mind could you list the styles you would use to make it?

    3. You could start with the Metalhead chest and the Ancient Divine Sorceress legs/skirt. After that I haven't really looked into it. There's really no point without something similar to the headpiece. :(

  3. Polaris is not crazy and let me assure you that there are more crazy characters out there and even worst than Polaris(take Storm as an example). Your description is somehow outdated because writers don't even portray Polaris as you described it. Yes, she is the ONLY DAUGHTER of the Master of Magnetism. Polaris has so many nice costumes (not just this one here) and is the only character so far who I know Marvel gave Polaris many costumes. She has like 40 or more. Polaris is amazing just like her father.

  4. Haha. You clearly didn't read Uncanny X-Men during the era when Polaris wore this costume. She was very much presented as crazy, as she has been many times in her history.

    1. Many times sounds too much now. I think you're talking about Magneto or Storm or even Cyclops. X-Men Blue is totally the opposite of what you're saying about Polaris.
